About the Race
The JCI Discovery Challenge is Penticton’s newest, most unique and most fun athletic adventure
race. Teams of two complete challenges at checkpoints throughout the city and
return to the finish as fast as they can. The challenges are based on skills,
knowledge, logic, and endurance. Teams must stick together at all times. Modes
of travel between checkpoints must be on foot or public transit only unless
allowed for a specific challenge, in which case, that mode will be provided.
Steve King will be on-hand to act as the race announcer.
The race is expected to run from between 2.5 and 5.0 hours depending on how well you perform the
challenges and how efficiently you can move through the town. There will be some twists
and surprises so be prepared for the unexpected.
Things to bring on your adventure include: sunscreen, water, food, cell phone, identification (for waiver),
running shoes, spending cash and clothing that is appropriate for the weather. Make sure to travel lightly;
food and water is not provided so pack a lunch or grab something along the way.
The start/finish line is located at Nanaimo Square (between the 200 and 300 blocks on Main Street).
Players must check in and submit their pledges between 9:00am and 9:30am and ready to race by 9:45am.
Teams will be given further instructions just before the race starts and must return before cut-off at 4pm to register as completed.
